A few remarks...
There are no neo-luddites. There are no primitivists either. The use of the term primitivist is a misnomer, a convenient one for those who prefer a debate on the scientific-technological complex reduced to its simplest terms. No one wants to "go back" to the caves, and plagues are still with us. No revolutionary wants or calls for a mass die-off of humanity, even by implication.
Is a disalienated use of science and technology possible? By this I mean science and technology as we understand it today. When people in their millions decide to finish with this world, how much of the existing technology will they keep? Keep in mind that technology in its contemporary sense is the product of an absolutely alienated humanity. Thoreau said "Do we ride the train, or does it ride us?" Capital rides us, therefore its technology rides us. Think about it.
